As a mother, my children don’t know about relaxers. Natural hair is normal to them.

Think we’re reverting back though. There are so many women saying natural hair is childish. Also, many refuse to wear their natural hair out, they’re always in braids or a wig

I was a bit resentful to my parents for putting my sister and I through relaxer. It’s been 7 years since I last had relaxer. I had done the big chop the moment I stopped, and now my hair is so thick. Went from being told my hair was so thin, to now my hair is very thick. I remember going to get my hair braided and being told for the first time that I had thick hair. It made me so happy

As a South African, many of us thought black American women naturally had silky straight hair when we were children.

The WORKFORCE is the main proponent for keeping a relaxer in the hair especially in the seventies, eighties, and nineties! 👍🏽🤓
