The KZN “John Wick” father has spoken publicly in an interview after killing hijacker while trying to protect his daughter Sidney Hill has spoken publicly in an interview with Highway Mail / Caxton Network News, about the terrifying incident in which he protected his children during an alleged hijacking attack in KwaZulu-Natal. Protecting his children He said “My children mean the world to me, I will die for my kids without hesitation. I did not care what was going to happen to me but knowing that they were protected eased me.” Hill said his children know what he does for a living as a bodyguard, but witnessing the incident was painful for him. “Seeing it live makes my heart sore. I never wanted them to experience that and see that side of me.” The night of the incident Hill said he had only moved into the area four days before the incident. “I just got home and we were going out to get bread and milk.” During the gunfight, he sustained injuries to his arm and knee. “I am fine though now, and my children are receiving counselling.” On the arrested suspect One suspect has been arrested and charged with attempted carjacking, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Hill said he was pleased about the arrest but expressed his anger over what happened to his son. “I am happy that he has been arrested but to tell the truth I wish they found him dead somewhere as he pointed a gun to my son.” Overwhelmed by public support Hill, a father of four, said he never expected the overwhelming support he has received, including donations through a BackaBuddy fundraising campaign. “I did not plan for something like this to happen and I did not expect any of it. I cannot believe that South Africa has come together like that, not only in South Africa but people from all over the world. I have no words to explain my gratitude.” Hill also laughed off the various nicknames people have given him, including “John Wick.”
