I've gone to "cheap" salons and the nail tech had filthy hands and tools, they seemed like they were being controlled by a boss and you would worry are they doing this because they love it or forced.... so yeah I agree with you. you are paying for a reputable service

Thank you… nails last 3/4 weeks. People pay 40/50€ for makeup to be washed off in 12 hours. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think people forget that these are luxury services that people have spent a lot of money training and investing in themselves to learn how to do aswell as everything you mentioned , nails techs anyone in beauty does not owe you anything if it's too expensive go somewhere cheaper then it's not up to you as someone in the beauty industry to keep your prices fair your not just trying to earn a living you want to be well off otherwise what's the point

I think people are really snobby when it comes to paying any trades people what is completely worth it for a good service. I used to work in salons myself and my husband is an electrician so have first hand experience and I found personally the people that complained most about the prices were people who were in good jobs themselves or more so their husbands had really good jobs that payed well, and it’s so ironic because the ones that moaned about the cost had the money comfortably to pay for the service. These people also thought that the insane amount of money they made or their husbands made in their job was 100% earned but then made out like they were being robbed paying the salons prices and I think it’s snobby, a lot looked down on trades and people who done trades or the likes of beauty and hair as if we weren’t that smart and were only doing nails, spray tans etc so don’t deserve to make a really good living from it. We had so many complain about prices and compare us to the types of salons that charge a lot less but the problem always comes back to they want the type of finish product that comes with paying a little extra but don’t want to pay what it costs to cover the wages, the electricity, the good products and any clients that did leave to try the cheaper places always came back because like I say they want the finish result the higher priced places charge. I really think a lot of people look down on these types of jobs unfortunately and think that people doing these jobs should only be allowed to earn what they decide they want to pay for the service which is crazy, it really needs to change and we need to start looking on people who have skills like nails, beauty, hair, carpentry, electrical, plumbing as equal to people who are in office jobs or health care, marketing etc. Trades people have amazing skills and should be paid well enough that they can comfortably live in the current environment where living is expensive, these people shouldn’t be working long unsocial hours to come out with low wages that they struggle to survive on!!!

100% the service price also includes your education, experience & skill - before even considering the price of products, time, safety of the client (disposables / proper products etc) 🖤

Nails are a luxury, you don’t have to get them done if they’re too expensive. But nail techs shouldn’t be made to feel like they can’t charge more. If you like getting them done and value it then you’ll pay whatever you need . Especially if the work is good. I am an independent nail tech btw

nails are never appreciated and people always want the cheap price, no way should a qualified professional nails tech/artist should change less then a minimum €50, especially if they use acrylic the cost of the powder and liquid and then the gel colour bottles....clients customers and people need to respect the time and effort a nail tech gives 💯

I used to go Chinese for years and would much rather pay extra €5-€10 for a better service, not being left waiting, not having uneven nail shapes, not precise cuticle care etc you pay for what you get and a higher standard comes at a slightly higher price 💗

Somebody please tell me where they are getting biab done for €55,…… my usual start at €65 minimum and can go up to €80 depending on nail art or if I get broken nails fixed with tips.

i pay €45 in tallaght for solid colour BIAB nails - my sister goes to another local salon and pays €75 but gets decent amount of nail art. Both of us could get cheaper in a cash only salon for similar - but its not the same. Never once have I been left waiting for my app, if its cold in the waiting area, I'm told to move into where the heater is, she could tell you so much about me and i could tell you about her (my nail tech). same with my sister. i go to someone who is self employed, my sister goes to a local salon and my other sister goes to a chain salon. We've all been going to the same people for years. You are paying for an experience as well as a service. We cannot complain about certain people draining our systems but then ignoring the fact that many (not all) cash only salons are not paying their fair share in taxes and vat like other companies, hygiene standards are also not consistent in many of them. I definitely think they have their place and thats fine. Nails are a luxury service - not an essential but its one of the few things i do consistently for myself and I want to look forward to the whole experience

I think it’s crazy that people can say about a self employed person “they’re charging too much” , emmm maybe it’s too much for you … sooo you just go somewhere else then ! If it’s not in your budget it’s not for you ! People who complain just do not want to pay and always have complaints! Charge what you’re worth 💅🏻

We charge 45for biab off/on , disposable files , tools all sterilised and in single use pouches that are open in front of the client, the price includes russian manicure and it takes 1,5h to complete the service. Gel polish is 40eu for 1h work so in reality it would be better to only offer gel polish application. But atleast i allow my clients to choose their own nail shape 😀😀heard of other salons just doing as they wish , and weren’t a lot of them Asian salons sued for only paying 5eu/h to staff

I think the price is totally justifiable, and it’s also one of the cheaper services compared to other beauty treatments in terms of how long you get out of it etc xx

People have no problem paying €100s-€1000s for hair, lashes, brows, tan, makeup, aesthetics, facials, skin boosters, and vitamin injections & weight loss injections & tan injections and sunbeds! But when it comes to having a set of hands and toes they want them for €20 each ?? Idk makes no sense id say there’s more products, timing, precision, & detail in nails anyway I do think a lot of the other salon work can be quite repetitive but when it comes to nails you have to detail it down to their lifestyle , their own skin & nail biology and science . Never mind the actual painted details ontop of the structured manicure or pedicure!!!

I pay €47 for an acrylic refill and my nails never lift. I have gone 5 weeks sometimes between infills when life gets busy. I’d rather pay that than go somewhere cheaper and damage my nails

I paid €61 for my last hard gel infill with basic nail art. There's a place 5 mins away from where I go that are cheaper. However I would rather pay more as I have gone from needing refills every 3 weeks and always losing at least 1 nail. To 4 weeks between refills and only losing 2 nails in 4 years. Through my own fault.

Omg yes. I have a theory that because nails is the only service where the client can see each step (brows/lashes/makeup your eyes are closed) it’s like people have the “I can do that myself” attitude towards nails because they see each part. So when we need to charge more they don’t understand the skill compared to other beauty services.. Little do they know 😫
