October 10, 2026 — During an ICE operation at State Highway 6 and Clay Road in northwest Houston targeting a different man, officer Mario Alberto Morales strikes bystander Miguel Parra Hernandez with his unmarked SUV as Parra Hernandez runs. Parra Hernandez, a 48-year-old construction worker who was not the target, suffers a broken leg and ankle. On his 911 call Morales says the man hit his car; on body camera he tells Parra Hernandez, "Yeah, you got hit with a car, bro," and tells another officer, "I was coming in and I hit him with the car." October 30, 2026 — A Harris County grand jury indicts Morales on second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. District Attorney Sean Teare releases the 911 calls and body camera and says his office will prosecute any law enforcement officer who violates the law; Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says no badge, title, or position places anyone beyond scrutiny. ICE calls the allegation that the strike was intentional reckless and false. November 2, 2026 — Morales surrenders in Harris County's 488th District Court. Judge Matthew Peneguy sets bond at $30,000 — prosecutors had asked for $75,000, the defense for $25,000 — with a no-contact condition covering victims and witnesses, and Morales is released the same day. His defense team — lead attorney Michael Wynne, David Lindenmuth, and former Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg as co-counsel — calls the case a political prosecution and an accident, and files to move it to federal court. Status — Morales is presumed innocent; the indictment is a charge, not a conviction. He is on administrative leave while ICE reviews the case internally. Parra Hernandez remains in a Houston rehabilitation facility and in federal custody. Morales is due back in court on Wednesday, December 2, 2026. #TrueCrime #Houston #Texas #ICE #HarrisCounty
