So as an autistic person with two autistic toddlers (yup, both now diagnosed), I definitely experience feeling overstimulated on a regular basis. So as an autistic person with two autistic toddlers (yup, both now diagnosed), I definitely experience feeling overstimulated on a regular basis. I navigate meltdowns and ongoing stress while I still run a major psychiatry practice during the day. My own sound sensitivity drives me into wanting to hide in the bathroom (but then the kids are knocking on the door "mommmmm"). I'm a really big fan of the @LoopEarplugs and I was honestly hesitant. I don't like noise cancelling headphones. I hate not being able to hear background noise because I still have a lot of hyper vigilance and get anxious if I can't know what's going on around me. These are literally so cool because you can personalize them to the type of quiet moment you're in need of. I've been using these on the daily for the last few days and tbh, I notice I'm way less stressed out. Because I've been able to reduce some of the sensory input, I'm able to tolerate a lot more in a cooler headspace during the day. I'd imagine for high masking teens who refuse accommodations of the big noise canceling headphones for school, this would be an amazing option. Overstimulated parents, this is for you.
