@rosecoloredchaosbb: In April 2010, Perry Hospital in Perry, Georgia, discovered that its lead radiologic technologist, Rachael Rapraeger, had falsified nearly 1,300 mammogram reports over an 18-month period. She accessed the hospital’s computer system while impersonating physicians and marked mammograms as normal without completing the required documentation or having the images properly reviewed by a radiologist. The misconduct came to light after a woman who had been told her mammogram was clear received a breast cancer diagnosis at another hospital just three months later. An investigation revealed that the physician listed on her report had not even been at the hospital that day. Further reviews identified 10 women who had lumps or cancer, and at least two reportedly died. Rapraeger admitted to the misconduct and was fired. She told police that personal problems had caused her to lose interest in her job. In 2014, she pleaded guilty to reckless conduct and computer forgery. Her sentence included up to six months in detention, 10 years of probation, a $12,500 fine, and a prohibition against working in the health-care industry. Rachael Rapraeger should have received NO jail time! Why?
