@thebeautydoctrine: YOUR LASHES ARE AGING TOO! 👁️ We talk endlessly about collagen loss, wrinkles, and thinning scalp hair. But what about our eyelashes? If you've noticed that your lashes aren't as long, thick, or full as they used to be, you're not imagining it. EYELASHES HAVE THEIR OWN AGING PROCESS. Like scalp hair, eyelashes grow from follicles that cycle through growth, transition, and rest. But unlike scalp hair, the eyelash growth phase is naturally short. That's one reason lashes only grow to a certain length. As we age, changes in follicle activity, hair shaft characteristics, and the hair-growth cycle can contribute to lashes appearing shorter, finer, or less dense. Hormonal changes, especially around menopause, may also influence hair growth. And here's something important: what looks like poor growth may actually be BREAKAGE from years of mechanical stress. 6 WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR NATURAL LASHES 1. CHANGE HOW YOU REMOVE MASCARA. Stop rubbing your eyes in circles or dragging cotton pads back and forth across your lashes. Use a gentle oil cleanser or oil-based eye makeup remover to dissolve mascara first. Then use light downward strokes in the direction of lash growth. Less friction means less pulling, twisting, and unnecessary breakage. 2. RECONSIDER WATERPROOF MASCARA. Waterproof formulas are designed to resist moisture and stay in place. That's wonderful for longevity, but some require more effort to remove. Repeated aggressive removal can contribute to lash breakage. For everyday wear, I prefer formulas that wash away more easily. 3. BE CAREFUL WITH TUBING MASCARA. Tubing mascaras coat individual lashes with polymers that form little sleeves. They can be convenient and easy to remove with warm water, but don't pull or pick the tubes off dry. Let them soften and slide away. The removal technique matters as much as the formula. 4. PROTECT YOUR FOLLICLES FROM MECHANICAL STRESS. Heavy lash extensions, repeated pulling, and aggressive curling can damage lashes. Chronic tension may contribute to traction-related lash loss. Use curlers gently, before mascara, and give your natural lashes a break from extensions when needed. 5. REMEMBER THAT LASH GROWTH STARTS INSIDE THE BODY. Hair follicles need adequate protein, iron, zinc, and other nutrients to function normally. Thyroid disorders, iron deficiency, and inflammatory eyelid conditions can also contribute to thinning lashes. If you're experiencing sudden, patchy or significant lash loss, investigate the cause instead of simply purchasing another lash serum. 6. CHOOSE YOUR MASCARA AS CAREFULLY AS YOUR SKINCARE. Your eyelids and lash line are delicate. A formula that causes itching, redness, or irritation isn't worth wearing, regardless of how dramatic it makes your lashes look. I'm applying Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara in this video. I love the idea of prioritizing comfortable everyday makeup instead of constantly stressing delicate lashes for a temporary result. And one last thing: lash serums are not all created equal. Some contain prostaglandin analogues, which can stimulate lash growth but may also cause undesirable effects, including changes around the eyelids. Know what you're applying. My Functional Beauty philosophy applies to lashes too. Protect the follicle. Reduce unnecessary damage. Support your biology. Then use makeup to enhance what you already have. Save this for your next makeup removal routine. ❤️ #EyelashCare #ThinningLashes #MatureBeauty #Tower28 #MakeWavesMascara
