Friendship is not entitlement. Nobody owes anyone. It is goodwill that leads to help. And there is nothing wrong with asking for a percentage, are you not friends? why is it ok for them to connect you but suddenly bad for them to ask? Friendship (philia) has always had selfish desires attached to it. Friendship is not unconditional love. It is very conditional, despite what a lot think. If they ask for a percentage after the help they offered, you shouldn't have a problem giving...except you feel entitled and the money is more important to you than the "friendship" It goes both ways.
