5 things to check off before you launch your website. CHECK 1 - CONTACT FORM Fill in your own contact form and hit send. Then check the email actually arrives, and that it hasn't gone to spam. A broken form means enquiries are lost and you'll never know. CHECK 2 - 404 PAGE Type a page that doesn't exist and see what happens. Instead of a dead end, give visitors a friendly message and a way back home so they don't just leave this is also known as a 404 page. CHECK 3 - TEST ON MOBILE Most people will see your site on their phone. Test it on a real phone, not just a resized browser. Check text is readable, nothing is cut off and buttons are easy to tap. CHECK 4 - ANALYTICS Add analytics before launch so you're tracking from day one. You'll see how many people visit, which pages they look at, where they came from and other useful information. Free tools like Google Analytics do the job. CHECK 5 - MAKE SURE IT'S CRAWLABLE Lots of sites block search engines while they're being built, then forget to switch it back. Untick that setting, remove any noindex tags and submit your sitemap so Google can actually find you.
