@youraveragesutton: When You Woke Up. 10.23.26 I found myself listening to the song, 'Drops of Jupiter', by Train a lot in the weeks following the passing of my mom. I was very moved by the thought of her starting her 'next chapter' post her human experience here on earth and wanted to write a song about it. As things go, I was flying back home to Wisconsin listening to the song 'The Freshmen' by The Verve Pipe and it clicked that I wanted to write the above song in a late 90's, early 2000's alternative style. I was about halfway done with the lyrics and hit a bit of a roadblock. Thinking to myself, "I'll finish this later on", I went back and hit play on 'The Freshmen' which had about 5 seconds remaining. The next song that played on a couple hundred song playlist? Drops of Jupiter. Water works ensued, and the lyrics were finished within the next 5 minutes. 'When You Woke Up' is yours in 4 days.
