If you are still in the area, you should check out the fried Sicilian style in Luzerne County. Pizza L'oven in Exeter and Sicilian Bella Festa in West Wyoming PA are both perfect examples of that style.

I’m from NEPA and we love our thick crust with American or cooper cheese. Salerno’s, Revellos and Colorrsos are also good. Now I want pizza.

The reason it’s called double crust because pizza places also offer white pizza, which doesn’t include a crust on top! It’s just like the red, but without red sauce and usually has rosemary and onions with seasoning!

If you’re heading west, Jioio’s in Greensburg PA is one of the most unique!! Their crust is thin and flakey, kind of like pastry dough, and with sweet sauce it’s unlike anything else I’ve ever tried. Not necessarily regional but hands down one of a kind :)
