Rubbish
I am 60 and can still build muscle.
It's all about your mindset and how hard you train.
I am not talking about ego lifting, more form and time under tension.

Yeah no. Still lifting heavy and still making gains and have better mobility than I did when I competed in bodybuilding competitions.

Absolute crap I was naturally strong as a teenager then also having good genetics from my father i decided to start at the gym age 22 to the age of 29 giving it up then going back to the gym from 2017 to 2023 I changed my workouts which absolutely packed my muscle on so much so I switched to the Olympic weights along with body weight exercises I had never got so big I am age 60 and could do it all the same way!!!

Good video. Accurately summarised the key issues when training in in your 50s and more so in your 60s. Also ignore the people who have been training for years. It’s easier to keep muscle mass once you’ve spent years building it up. They’re missing the point of this talk which is mainly to help people make the change and start training when they’re older, or tweak their training. For context I’m 58, 5ft 8 73kg. I’ve been training for 15 months. I’m now doing full sets: pull ups with 15k plates, Dumbell incline with 32k dumbbells, lat pull down 84k, iso-lateral pull down 120k, bicep ez bar curl bar+20k. Basically I’m getting bigger and stronger. I train close to failure, but only do two sets per exercise, top set back off set. My programme is designed for maximum hypertrophy and has the right level of recovery. It also includes cardio, and conditioning training. I also use 1g protein per lb of lean body weight.

Reps in reserve … surely that defeats progressive overload? I’m 63; I count my reps but the only reps that count are the last ones, the ones that hurt and the ones I can only just do, and partials
