My great gram was beat to death by her husband because she outspoke about his drinking issues and putting his hands on her kids.. he was abusive and an alcoholic during the Great Depression. He got away with it and remarried less than a month after. His new wife threw out my grandmother and her brothers (they were children under 10) because “it wasn’t her job and they had no money”. They got separated into different orphanages. They ended up having more kids together after sending my gram away. But my gram married the best man.. my gramps. He gave her the world on a silver platter until she passed away and he followed shortly after. My gram was a spittttt fire and she said she got it from her mother all the time. And that’s why I’ll never be quiet.
