@thecat.reporster: Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Say Their New Rescue Dog Has A Parasite, Delaying His Homecoming Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are still waiting to bring their new dog home. They told PEOPLE on Sunday, Oct. 18, that the pup is being treated for a parasite. “We don’t have him yet because he had a little bit of health issue,” Ripa, 56, said at the Broadway opening night of Other Desert Cities in New York City. “A parasite,” Consuelos, 55, added. “So they’re treating it and then he’s going to come.” He said they expect the dog soon. “Any day now,” he said. The dog was brought to Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, Oct. 12, for Adopt a Dog Week by the rescue group Pet ResQ Inc. He was originally named Lucas. Consuelos carried him onto the set, and the pup fell asleep in his arms. The next day, the couple announced they had adopted him. Ripa said he would not come home right away because he needed medical tests. The couple also introduced him to their dog Lena. Ripa said Lena was apprehensive at first, but the dogs eventually played next to each other. The name is still not settled. Consuelos suggested Javi. Ripa said they were debating whether to keep Lucas. Their studio audience picked Javi by a landslide, but as of Monday, Oct. 19, the hosts have not made it official. The adoption comes after the couple lost their dog Chewie in February 2025 at age 17. Ripa said, “I bet Chewie sent Javi here for us.” “We are like expectant parents,” she said on Tuesday. “I started nesting last night. I couldn’t sleep.” What name do you think they should pick? #kellyripa #markconsuelos #new #rescuedog #adoptadog
