Brandon Mason Lawson was 26, an oil field worker from San Angelo, Texas, and a father of four. Late on the night of August 8, 2013, after an argument at home, Brandon drove off in his pickup. Shortly after midnight, he ran out of gas on U.S. Highway 277, a desolate stretch of West Texas road a few miles south of the tiny town of Bronte in Coke County. At around 12:30 a.m. he called his brother Kyle and asked him to bring gas. During their calls, Brandon told Kyle he believed he was being chased. At about 12:50 a.m., Brandon called 911. According to the Texas Rangers, he said he was on Highway 277 between Bronte and Abilene and needed police. The recording, later leaked online, is chaotic and mostly unintelligible panicked breathing, broken words, a voice that seems to say he's in a field and describes an altercation with at least two men. The call was routed to a dispatcher in a nearby town, and his exact location was never pinned down before it ended. Meanwhile, a passerby had reported Brandon's truck, left partially in the roadway. A sheriff's deputy arrived, and Kyle got there around 1:10 a.m. The truck had no obvious damage. Brandon's keys and phone were gone, and so was Brandon. Neither Kyle nor the deputy knew at the time that Brandon had called 911; his family later found it in his phone records. Search teams combed the brush and fields for years. Then human remains were found in the area. According to Concho Valley Homepage, DNA testing using his father's DNA showed a genetic match, and his family announced on Christmas Day 2024 that the remains were Brandon's. In 2025, they were finally released, and Brandon came home. But being found isn't the same as being solved. No one knows exactly how Brandon died, what he saw that night, or whether anyone else was out there in that field. No one has ever been charged. The Texas Rangers still list his case as a cold case investigation and ask anyone with information to come forward. #brandonlawson #911call #unsolvedmysteries #unexplained #creepy
