I became a certified personal trainer in 2010. Started blogging and posting on social media in late 2011. And here we are, over a dozen years later… with me on the cover of @Women's Health 🥹 Last week, @Ben Carpenter asked me if I was proud of myself for landing this - and I said yes without hesitation. It sounds trivial, but for someone whose standards have been impossible high for most of my life and for going so many years never thinking I’m good enough, this was huge. This is the first time I’ve fully embraced an achievement without thinking, “Why me?” or “Do they have the wrong person?” I know if a friend accomplished something similar, I’d be hyping them TF up, and I’d want them to own it fully. So to be able to actually do this for myself really makes me smile. Last night, after stopping in 11 stores across two weeks hunting for the latest issue, we found my cover at our local Target. There was actually a 1/3 chance it would be there (since there are 6 of us total for this issue, and they usually do 2 different covers each per store), so I was not expecting to find mine in that store. To anyone out there who has been taught to swiftly tick any accomplishment off the list and move onto the next item rather than reveling in what you’ve done; to achieve more more more and continually cut yourself down along the way; to deflect compliments and make non-stop self-deprecating jokes; to play small and stay “humble” instead of fully embracing the fruits of your own efforts… you’re allowed to be proud. So: I’m proud of myself. I deserve this. ❤️ For those of you in the US, you can find the latest issue with me (and 5 other rockstars!) on the cover out now in stores near you.
