And thats y deconstruction is so difficult! Because when we complain about the religous doctrine, they turn around and tell us thats js our family being extreme or its a misinterpretation of the religion, but when u read the actual texts or lisn to the extremists explain y they r the way they r, u realise that its all coming from the religious source itself. They arent making it up, they have actual evidence and arguments to back up their extremism

I grew up in a very strict Mormon household, and people still inside the religion (I left) sometimes try to make the argument that my family were unnecessarily strict, but the thing is that they were just as strict as you become when you follow all the rules instead of cherrypicking. I feel like that’s the problem within all religions to differing degrees. They all have the potential to become extreme based on individual level of devotion.
