Reaktivasi jalur kereta api di Ranah Minang dijadwalkan dimulai pada 27 Oktober 2026 melalui groundbreaking di Stasiun KA Kayu Tanam, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. Wakil Ketua Komisi VI DPR RI dari Fraksi Gerindra Andre Rosiade menyebut, reaktivasi jalur kereta api tersebut sebagai bagian dari komitmen Presiden Prabowo Subianto untuk terus membangun Sumbar. Proyek ini diharapkan menjadi momentum penting bagi pengembangan transportasi sekaligus penguatan konektivitas dan perekonomian masyarakat. “Ini merupakan komitmen Pak Prabowo untuk terus membangun Sumatera Barat. Kita ingin infrastruktur Sumbar semakin baik, konektivitas antardaerah semakin kuat, dan pembangunan memberikan manfaat nyata bagi masyarakat,” kata Andre yang juga Wakil Ketua Fraksi Gerindra DPR RI. Rencana reaktivasi ini memiliki cakupan pekerjaan yang cukup besar. Berdasarkan kajian strategis perkeretaapian KAI untuk wilayah Sumatera Barat, tahap awal mencakup jalur Kayu Tanam–Padang Panjang sepanjang sekitar 15,3 kilometer. Kajian tersebut juga memetakan rencana pengembangan jalur Padang Panjang–Singkarak serta Solok–Sawahlunto dengan panjang gabungan sekitar 66,4 kilometer. Secara keseluruhan, rencana reaktivasi bersih mencakup sekitar 81,7 kilometer jalur kereta api, di luar segmen Singkarak–Solok sepanjang 13,76 kilometer yang disebut telah direaktivasi dalam dokumen tersebut. 📸: Dok.
