The mother in law is a manipulative narcissist who will never get respect from people who go through a health situation. My grandfather went through the same situation with the OP when it came to both their cancer when their health was dismissed by my toxic and manipulative neighbors before he passed away. My mom and I cared for both of them. The worst thing they ever did was dismiss my grandparents, criticizing my stepdad, and saying that they were going to die anyways. I was so mad at them! I wanted to tell them that my mom and I cannot be friends with people who look down on family facing health problems. We ended things with them
