i took it as amanda was in her feelings because she had just been confronted with elizabeth’s feelings of disgust towards her for doing the show, and nathan wasn’t outright disavowing that sentiment either. so amanda suddenly was seeing her in a more negative light

He did say he might could break the rule. when he said it made one think he was talking about the rule of avoiding cold water, but he could have been telling us he was breaking any rule

Yes! And it’s also a brilliant example of the film showing us how you can manipulate our perception by what you choose to show and not show. That clip changes so much about how we view EVERYTHING we just saw. This is what you’re saying, but I just think it’s also the filmmakers saying THIS is who WE are. So many layers!!

it's the same thing that happens at the end of season 1 of the rehearsal. in the last scene of that season he tells the kid he's his dad. it's a nod to not only discovering how others react in a situation, but how he does himself. the difference is he's telling the audience I too have fallen for the manipulation I was trying to document.

Yes but I really think he was leaning into for the plot. He like I know what your doing but I want to see where it going. Which absolutely insane to think that even when we know we are being deceived we still going along with it. So at that point arent they still getting what they want.

I had read everything about her prior to the movie (book, podcasts etc)…I never felt sympathy for her in the movie but I did for a moment wonder if she was mentally not well. And then post 24 hours from seeing it, I’m back to believing she was/is incredibly brilliant and full on consciously manipulated the entire time.

She is 100% the mastermind of all of this. She’s playing the doe-eyed fawn now, just like she played the deep voice CEO for a decade before. But ultimately she got him to go swimming with her and believe her, just like Billy gave us his sole rights to a percentage of the profits.
