@cardboardeconomics: What I look for before investing in a sealed box 🧐📦 Two questions, every time. Is the shelf being squeezed? Does the price leave room? Pressure: demand picking up, supply thinning, price hasn’t moved yet. 📈 Value: is it cheap for what it is, against boxes from its era and its own set. 🪎 Theres more I take into consideration and deep dive, but it all inevitably falls into these two categories one way or another. Vivid Voltage ETB is the best example right now. Flat at $139 for six weeks. If all you’re looking at is price, it doesn’t tell much of a story. But under the surface: demand +29%, supply −44%, and 25% under the middle of its era. My model flags it Prime. It’s been on my record since Oct 4 at $134. Hit or miss, it gets graded in public. Stellar Crown PC ETB is the second example: second-cheapest Pokémon Center box of its era, demand +33%, supply −32%, Prime. On my record since Sep 7 at $174. None of these moves happen over night, short term movement in sealed products is still at minimum a multi-month timeline. Do not compare TCG investments to the liquidity of the stock market or you’ll set yourself up for failure.
