@dd_214certified: Find your people. Sam Westfall, a U.S. Army veteran from Colorado Springs, Colorado, explains why veterans should not go through the transition out of the military alone. Sam runs Valor Archery Challenge and is an ambassador for the Veteran Beer Club and IVMF, where about a hundred active duty, transitioning service members and veterans meet each month at a local veteran owned brewery to connect with recruiters and hiring managers before they ever walk away from the uniform. He shares what he tells soldiers who are about to get out, why you should find resources outside your unit, and why every veteran should find their friends, their tribe and their comrades and keep going. In his words, in a room full of veterans it does not matter which branch you served in, it is an instant connection. This is a snippet from Sam's full interview on The Debrief, where U.S. military veterans tell their own stories about service, leadership and life after the uniform. These conversations exist to bring awareness to veterans and what they are doing now. Who is your tribe after service? Tell us below.
