BUBBLE GUM AND BULLETS :
I DO still have a few of the old wool blankets my Grandma gave me, well my sons have most of them, I really wish I still had the quilts that She and Her Friends made decades ago. I have only been able to find a few that even came close to the ones that were given to me. Cotton and wool together let me sleep warm when the LP gas ran out. the only time I used the plastic was when I had to kinda make a little tent above my bed, the plastic never touched my blankets or me. the plastic sheets were at least a foot above the bed, even out camping, never let the plastic touch your sleeping bag, it doesn't breathe. when I was out below zero a put one tent inside the other bigger one and I put my tarp on top of both of them. I slept well. The gaps were very important, never put one right on top of the other one. that little air gap keeps a person dry. I have even dug out a snowdrift and slept in it, the wind couldn't blow through the snow. I Always had a fire and I put dry rocks next to my fire All Day. I would pick them up and put them in my shelter at night. they never touched anything but the stored heat lasted for most of the night and I just put them back around the fire and got the other ones. this is so simple, even a Cub scout knew what to do. the fire hole was also really important, one hole dug deep and a smaller one came into the bottom of my fire pit. that little hole from the side into the low spot kept air coming into it and it didn't smother during the night. put a small shelter over your fire and the heat is going to stay in it. I did this stuff when I was kid and had to get away from the house and my mom. I can't sleep in anything except Cotton and Wool and I have to keep my window open next to my head. I'm sure that there are several people that might Read this and understand or have done the same thing. Share, give me the things that you did when you just needed to get away from it All
