THE FALL | Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi — STAR WARS: EPISODE III — REVENGE OF THE SITH (2005) 🔥 Anakin Skywalker has spent an entire movie trying not to lose everything. This is the part where everything catches up with him. Power was supposed to fix the problem. More power would fix it even better. And somewhere between fear, prophecy and several increasingly catastrophic career decisions, Anakin becomes so determined to control the ending that he personally destroys almost everything he was trying to save. Mustafar is simply where the bill arrives. By this point, there is very little left to negotiate. The Jedi are gone. Padmé is slipping away. The Republic has become an Empire. And Obi-Wan is standing in front of the boy he trained, trying to understand how they possibly got from Chosen One to this. Anakin still thinks he can win. That may be the saddest part. Because this is no longer about defeating Obi-Wan. It is about a man who has mistaken power for protection for so long that he cannot recognize the moment power has taken everything from him. Hayden Christensen plays those final minutes with absolute fury. Not the confidence of somebody becoming stronger. The desperation of somebody who has already lost and simply has not realized it yet. And Ewan McGregor does not play Obi-Wan like a victor. Because there is nothing here to win. He can stop Anakin. He cannot undo him. By the time the lava settles, Darth Vader is technically closer than ever to getting everything he thought he wanted. Unfortunately, Anakin Skywalker has almost nothing left. Some people hit rock bottom. Anakin brought a lightsaber and found somewhere considerably hotter. 🔥 #StarWars #RevengeOfTheSith #AnakinSkywalker #ObiWanKenobi #HaydenChristensen - @bridgenoland
