@itsnathanoreilly: Liquidity sweeps, inverse fair value gaps and trendline breaks. You've probably seen these concepts mentioned countless times if you've spent any time studying price action trading. But the interesting part isn't knowing what they're called. It's understanding how traders use them together to analyse potential opportunities in the market. These chart examples show a few of the concepts I regularly discuss when breaking down bearish price action. A liquidity sweep occurs when price moves beyond an area where orders may be concentrated, such as a previous swing high or low. An inverse fair value gap (IFVG) is an area where a previously identified fair value gap fails to hold, potentially indicating a change in short-term market behaviour. A trendline break can provide another piece of information about whether the existing price movement is weakening. And previous swing highs or lows can help traders identify areas where price might react or where potential targets could be considered. Of course, seeing these things line up on a chart doesn't guarantee the trade will work. Technical analysis helps us develop trading ideas, but those ideas still need clear invalidation levels, sensible risk management and realistic expectations.
