@humphreytalks: The amount of money you need to make in order to afford these homes in 2026 is insane! Let me know your thoughts in the comments. #MoneyHacksTikTokContest #TikTokLearningCampaign #learnontiktok #LearnonTikTokContest #edutokcontest
These numbers are stupid. If you get paid $150K/year you’re almost NEVER living in an area paying you that much. Thats CA/NY money, and then you’re looking at $1M+ for a home

The only solution to home affordability is it takes a married couple where both work to afford a home. That means the only way to make more homes affordable is polygamy. You're welcome. [Tears of joy][Tears of joy][Tears of joy]

I still remain quite perplexed. Maybe you can enlighten me. From the “affordability “ standpoint, I understand that salaries just have risen fast enough over time (in comparison to CEO pay, stock market, etc). But why do home prices keep rising? Is the wealth effect from the stock market keeping prices afloat? Limited building makes sense in CA, NY, but in other states, there are no shortages. Any thoughts?

That number is wrong it’s not $85,000. It’s $85,000 on a house that’s $375,000. You’re not including closing cost and tax

So how and when does this turn around? The housing market collapses and then prices come down? The cost of living right now is absolute insanity

Over the last 15 years of working as a Millenial, I have never even earned a 1% raise. I’ll never own a house, and most people I know don’t own, just rent. It’s fun always working and never getting anywhere.

Anywhere near Los Angeles or in Los Angeles three bedroom homes with two bathrooms or one are usually about 800 K right now

Home prices have gotten way too high but there is a statistical disconnect assuming a first time home is the median home.

Bankerbreakdown :
Median-priced metros aren't the whole map. In a lot of small Southern towns a 3-bedroom still sells well under that, and the bigger surprise in the payment there is often insurance and taxes, not the price, so get a real insurance quote before you fall in love with a house.
