I think I realized why I LOVE your channel so much: you remind me of the way Food Network Channel USED to be when it was good. Remember Rachael Ray and her Ten Dollar Dinners? You’re literally doing that! You’re teaching us HOW to cook, from literal start to finish, over and over again and you’re using real ingredients that most of us have access to in a world where grocery costs are out of control. You show us and teach us how to care for ourselves and our friends/family day after day after day. You’re filling a missing gap that used to covered by Rachael Ray…Martha Stewart…Bobby Flay…etc. And you’re a REAL person! Big heart, loving family member, and you share your talent with Internet Strangers. Thank you! You are appreciated ❤️.

Pro tip for those who have time amd space. keep those onion, potato and all of the other veggie scraps to boil into a stock at a later date. could even use the small scraps from meats you cut off.

Could you talk about making room in your budget for buying one thing in bulk when you can. I’ve noticed lots of people forget it doesn’t have to be 100 pounds of meat. I like to keep powdered butter on hand, powdered milk and cheese dehydrated onions and potatoes are some of my favorites and I buy those when I have room in my budget and they can really stretch your future budgets if you’re able. They also can add a lot of flavor and bulk up your calories if that’s something you need. I know not everyone can spend an extra 15 dollars on the front end but if you can I think it’s worth it.

I love that you make meal plans so that you’re not just buying ingredients for one meal. Single meal deals are good for when you just need to get through one night til pay day but plans like this are more realistic to how folks shop most of the time.

Love it! My affordable meal lately has been Rotisserie Chicken Rce Porridge. I have been taking advantage of my Costco membership I was gifted and get a rotisserie every week to make into 3 meals

if you’re gonna be on a budget, use minced garlic. it comes in a jar, and it’ll have more garlic than if you minced it yourself.

Idk who will see this, but - during the holidays, it’s SO EASY to stretch mashed potatoes by making some whole potatoes (with skins on or off, whatever you prefer) and bulking them out with unflavored instant mashed potatoes!! Sometimes the flavored ones can give it away for tasting “artificial” - but it helps stretch a bag of potatoes to feed way more!
