I prefer the commuter train, South Shore Line. Drive to the station at Michigan City, park, take the commuter train in, drops you off downtown Chicago for less than $20 each way.

i took a greyhound from arizona to oklahoma once, i was tracked, nearly trafficked, had multiple buses cancel, was left outside a locked station for 14 hours, trip was supposed to be about 36 hours, actually took 4 days

I once rode the Grayhpund bus from Marquette Mi to Lincoln Park MI it was awful and took 16 hours. Never ever again.

I find it worth it to make the 3-4hr drive, stay outside the city and take the metra in.

Amtrak to Chicago is nice. My hubby just left out of Jackson on Sunday night. Business class. Had the whole section to himself. Not even that expensive.

I took the Greyhound ALONE from Milwaukee to Joliet, IL (at the tender age of 16) our bus broke down at around midnight in the south side of Chicago…it definitely toughened me up & I was never the same after that 😂😭

When I lived in the city I took the Southshore line and asked my parents to come pick me up in Michigan city for a family party in st. Joe. It was actually lovely. You get on right at Millennium station under the Adventures in Babysitting building (Smurfit and Stone if you know architecture) anyway… just to say, it’s also convenient and cheap to park in Michigan city if you just wanna take that train and it leaves like every hour or so during the day. I just also am of the mindset it’s like 3 hours for me to drive otherwise and so much less frustrating than driving. But I have done this drive for 20 years so I guess I’m just used to it by now
