Transferring your sleeping baby without waking them can feel like a full Olympic event 🥇 But a smooth transfer is absolutely possible when you focus on a few key steps. First, make sure your baby is in a deep sleep (think heavy arms and no fluttering eyelids). Move slowly and keep your body as close to your baby as possible as you lower them down. Place them into the bassinet or crib feet first, then bum, then back, settling them gently onto their side. Once they’re down, slowly roll them onto their back. Taking your time and keeping everything calm and steady makes a big difference. That said… it’s very common for babies to wake the moment they’re transferred — or to only sleep for one sleep cycle.
