@drkatiebeleznay: Minoxidil is one of the most well-researched treatments for certain types of hair loss, and it can be very effective. But it's not right for everyone. One concern I hear about is its potential toxicity to pets. Even small exposures can be dangerous, so it's important to be careful with application, storage, and contact with treated skin or hair. If you're looking for other options, here are products and treatments I like, including those I personally use. 🚿 Shampoos: Ketoconazole (Nizoral) can help manage dandruff and scalp inflammation, while products like Kerativ and Nioxin can support scalp health and help hair look fuller. 💧 Leave-on serums: RE:YOU, Kerativ, and The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum contain ingredients or formulations with some promising research. 💊 Supplements: Nutrafol (without biotin), saw palmetto, and oral pumpkin seed oil have some encouraging clinical data, but larger studies are needed. Other vitamins are unlikely to be helpful unless there is known deficiency. 🔴 Light therapy: Low-level laser and LED devices have evidence for improving hair density in some people with pattern hair loss, particularly with consistent use. 💉 PRP: Platelet-rich plasma injections may help stimulate hair growth and improve hair density, although results can vary and multiple sessions are typically needed. There are also prescription options worth discussing with your dermatologist, including oral minoxidil, spironolactone, and finasteride, depending on your individual circumstances. Not all hair loss is the same, and the best treatment depends on the underlying cause. #dermatologist #hairgrowth
