I stopped competing because I was done asking seven people if I was allowed to look like this. That’s it. That’s the short version. I did the shows. I turned pro. I stood on that Olympia stage more than once. I brought the best physique of my life and I took last. And everybody thinks that’s why you quit. Last place. Like I packed my bag because the number was ugly. Last place is not why I left. Last place is when I understood the sport. They didn’t want better. They wanted smaller. Downsize the quads. Soften the thing. Make it easier to score. I built these legs in a bedroom in Beirut when I was twelve. I didn’t have a gym. I had a floor and a lot of anger. I did not build this so a panel could tell me to sand it down. I already heard that speech. Your daughter looks like a man. Your daughter is disgusting. I am not going to survive all of that and then obey it in a nicer room with better lighting. Posing started to feel like standing still so somebody else could decide if I was too much. I have been too much since I was a girl. I am not spending another season trying to be the correct amount. And I couldn’t keep living like the body was the whole sentence. You look at me and you think strong. I wanted that taken apart before I disappeared inside it. The stage doesn’t ask who you are when the pump comes off. It just adds more of what people already think they know. I didn’t want to find that out on a clock. In peak week. With my name on a list. So I retired. Not because I lost. Not because I got soft. Not because I’m hiding. I retired because that job was finished. I still train. I still have this physique. I still will not downsize. I just don’t need a placing to prove it. If you came here for the next show there isn’t one. If you came here for the body it’s still here. If you came here for the girl they told to shrink she already left the lineup. That was the point. #womenempowerment
