@jerseytalks_: Paterson councilman Jackson told the room he'd resign if half of them stood up. 🏛️ At the Oct. 13 Paterson City Council meeting, during the debate on raising sewer fees, 1st Ward Councilman Michael Jackson warned colleagues against being a "rubber stamp vote." Then he turned to the audience: if 50% of the people in the room stood up and said the community is better now than it was 10 years ago, he said, "I will resign right now." Later, casting his vote, 6th Ward Councilman Ibrahim Omar made the other case. He said the increases come to $3 a month for a single-family home and $25 a month for a four-family, and asked his colleagues if they were really going to jeopardize $19 million.
