feeling like you missed out on lessons where people learnt certain social skills, struggled thru primary knowing there was something but never knowing what

I can’t believe there are so many of us who lived the same exact life. That gut wrenching feeling after getting a late diagnosis and recalling everything you went through your entire life. It opened my eyes to how hard I was on myself and all along I just had a brain trying to survive a world not built for it. Sometimes I wish I could go back and give that little girl a hug and tell her she IS as worthy as everyone else. 😭

No one talks about how much more often it s misdiagnosed for females in cultural households because their parents tried to drill education to them where if you then end up getting good grades it’s easier to mask your chaotic symptoms

It felt like I was working 100x harder than everyone around me and still not getting the perfect grades I was aiming for that others seemed to get easily without going through the mental turmoil I had to. I always wondered what was wrong with me that I was such a procrastinator with school, and why I was so intense with everything and everyone. I burnt out at 19 too.

i think i have adhd (going to a therapist soon!) but i always see people who got diagnosed always saying the were masking or trying to act normal but i dont think i ever felt that way? i think my childhood was normal but i dont really remember anything tbh so im really confused. i feel like it was almost like i was normal my entire life and then i entered college and everything came crashing down

It’s so funny to me. There are so many people who can attest to the suffering that comes with this reality yet people never listen. They never consider us, they forget it’s a real disability. If it were taken more seriously, people would be kinder to us. We deserve sunshine but we are just outcasted.

Your sensitivity isn’t invalid though, if it hurts, it hurts. ADHD just handles pain in a different direction. 🩷
