here is how I would incorporate running alongside your strength workouts! 1) Regardless of what team you’re on in the Ladder app— do 3 workouts every week. To make it easy to decide, do the priority workouts. But you can choose whichever look the most fun. 2) commit to 2-3 runs per week. This is crucial bc if you don’t give your body time to adapt to the new running stimulus, you’re gonna struggle to build an aerobic base (so it will always feel hard from a cardio perspective) and you’re likely gonna be chronically sore from a musculoskeletal standpoint. All runs 30-45 minutes. If you decide to do the easy, hard, long runs I talk about, you will bump the long run to 40-60 mins. 3) if you are a newer runner and you need to walk a bit on your runs, YOURE STILL A RUNNER. If you are breaking into running, do a walk/run. Ex, run for 3-4 mins, walk for 1 min. Repeat that cycle for the 30-45 mins in each run until you can jog/run the whole duration. 4) if you are a more advanced runner, you may have to combine strength and running sessions on the same day to fight over training and give proper recovery. However, I’ve found that I rarely have time during the week to do 2 plus hour workouts, I just don’t as a busy mom who works full time. So I have been very selective about what workouts, how heavy and hard I push myself, alongside the running. Don’t over think it but keep the hard days hard and easy days easy 🤙 #fitmom #kettlebellworkouts #strongmom #momswhorun #kettlebellswings
