@andrew.the.investor: If we are in a housing bubble at the moment, then stubborn boomers are the ones holding it up. #realestate #housingmarket #firsttimehomebuyer
I just saw a house in my area that bought in 2018 for roughly $350k and they listed it recently for over $700k..

Out of morbid curiosity, do Republicans even pretend to have a housing policy?

I’m not trying to sound morbid but we’ll have to wait for homes to sell as part of settling an estate

So crazy how you guys can lock in to a rate forever. In Canada we do 5 year terms. So while we are in a bad market for sellers out here not only is it hard for new buyers buying at a high rate but sellers have no choice. Whether they sell or not they will eventually have to accept a high rate if their terms coming to an end. That’s why we are seeing a lot of foreclosures bc lots of peoples terms were up this year and they bought at the lowest rate in decades in 2021

Today's mindset. Bought home in 2022. Puts on market 2026 for 100k more.

Not stubborn: UNDERWATER. People still think they can get the zestimate for their moldy leaky shit box or their $500,000 McMansion they financed 3 years ago that they are surprised to learn has $0 in real equity after listing and selling costs

They aren’t stubborn, sellers are unwilling to take a loss and price themselves out of their new home. Yes, they are going to make a huge profit, but they need that money to pay for the next place. Why would I leave my 3% rate for a more expensive, smaller place?

It’s not even that I don’t want to get rid of my 3.125% rate, I CAN’T. I’m paying 2k a month for my mortgage. I bought my house 5 years ago. Between the price increases and interest rate increases, buying the same home today would cost me about 4k a month. No upgrades, no more bedrooms, bathrooms, or yard space. Just a lateral move would cost me double or more a month. Which my salary can’t afford so I can’t go anywhere even if I wanted to

I’ll give up my 2.9% (pre covid) interest rate when I can find a better house for even equal to what my mortgage is now. 1300$ including escrow. Since that will…NEVER HAPPEN- this is my forever home.

I live in a town where the average income is 35k. Houses here are trying to get 175 to 200 a square foot. The houses are sitting 6+ months and barely lowering

People… this is NOT sustainable. Home prices cannot keep increasing with stagnant wages. Job loss is also a real time problem. It will give. It has to.

still confused how an Old 2 bed/1 bath 980sq ft with fresh paint is listed barely lower than a brand new 3 bed/2 bath 1500sq ft right down street.
