These super easy English muffins come together in less than 2 hours and are SO soft and delicious. Opting for the overnight proof will give a deeper flavor and more nooks & crannies, but having fresh bread in less than 2 hours is hard to beat.. You gotta try these! • HOMEMADE ENGLISH MUFFINS Ingredients: 1 cup warm milk (100* F)
1.5 tsp yeast
1 tbsp of honey
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp melted butter
1 egg 3 cups flour Cornmeal (to coat) Directions: 1. Mix warm milk and yeast in a large bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes, until foamy. 2. Mix in honey, salt, egg, and melted butter. Gradually add flour. Knead by hand (or stand mixer) for 3 minutes, until smooth. 3. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. 4. Once risen, either: divide dough into 8 equal pieces and roll into balls OR roll the whole dough out and cut the muffins with a circular cookie cutter. Sprinkle cornmeal on a plate and gently press each dough ball into it to coat both sides. Don’t flatten them too much. 5. At this point, you can do a second rise or go right into cooking them! To rise again, place the muffins on a tray and lightly cover with plastic wrap. Place in the fridge overnight. Remove from the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking. To cook, follow next steps. 6. Heat a nonstick pan or griddle over low heat. Add a little butter, then add the muffins. Cook about 6 minutes per side, flipping occasionally, until golden and cooked through. Lower the heat if they brown too quickly. 7. Let cool slightly before serving. Use a fork to split them open. Enjoy! #homemade #englishmuffin #EasyRecipe
