@jallenwrld: The NFL released an official statement following yesterday’s Buffalo Bills vs Las Vegas Raiders game. During the 2nd quarter of the game yesterday, C.J. Gardner Johnson was seen spitting on an opposing player on the Raiders. He was then ejected from the game. There is a few different statements. One from the NFL themselves, one from headcoach, Joe Brady and C.J. himself. The NFL stated, “Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson has been suspended without pay for one game for an act of unsportsmanlike conduct during Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. During the second quarter, Gardner-Johnson spit at an opponent, violating Rule 12, section 3, article 1 which applies to “any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.” Gardner-Johnson’s suspension begins on Monday, October 26. He will be eligible to return to the Bills’ roster on Monday, November 2, following the team’s November 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Gardner-Johnson may appeal the suspension. Any appeal will be heard and decided upon either by Derrick Brooks, Jordy Nelson, Ron Rivera, or James Thrash. The hearing officers jointly appointed and compensated by the NFL and NFLPA to decide appeals of on-field player discipline.” Joe Brady was asked a question about this action during media interviews yesterday, and he stated himself that he has not seen the actual clip. Saying, “I didn’t know anything other than there was a commotion, they threw a flag, you know i’m thinking it’s a 15 yard penalty, I’m already putting another DB in that situation cause we gotta be more disciplined in that. Then they just let me know they’re reviewing it in New York, and they ejected him from the game. I haven’t had an opportunity to see the clip or see what happened, but the discipline of our football team has to improve, and that sure as hell can’t happen. The team’s bigger than that, the situation is bigger than that, everything’s bigger than that. It can’t happen and it definitely will be addressed.” Earlier today, he went onto say, “C.J. is a member of the Buffalo Bills. We brought him here for a reason, he knows he has to be better for this team we have to learn from this stuff and get better. No different than James Cook fumbling.” After the game last night, Gardner-Johnson posted on his instagram story addressing his actions. He said, “I want to take a moment to address my actions and sincerely apologize to my opponent, my teammates, my organization, and everyone who supports me. My passion and competitive nature have always been a huge part of who I am, but I also understand that there is a line that should never be crossed. The gesture I made toward my opponent was inappropriate, unnecessary and not a reflection of the respect I have for him or this game. There is no excuse for my actions, and I take full accountability. No matter how emotional or intense the competition gets, I have to hold myself to a higher standard. To my opponent, I sincerely apologize. We compete hard between those lines, but respect should always remain at the forefront. One moment does not define my character, but how I respond to that moment matters. I will learn from this, grow from it, and continue to lead with the integrity, passion, and respect that have carried me throughout my career. I love this game, I respect this game, and I will always protect the integrity of this game. My actions will speak louder than my words moving forward.” #fyp #buffalobills #footballtiktok #lv #nfl
