Hi it’s me Austin, im a mixed Latin person with indigenous native heritage, but where I come from is lost info in my family. When dressing in the video, I wore only clothes and jewelry I’ve curated from vintage/ thrift stores over the years, nothing from any tribe because I don’t have one to claim. I would never pretend, I just wanted to touch on my roots where I felt allowed to do, but I stopped because with the grand response, I didn’t want to do the wrong thing by continuing to express fashion and culture where I’m learning I need more information to do, and to stay respectful 🙏Thank you for reading❤️

this is kinda sad.. I'm Maori.. I wasn't brought up Maori at all. mum was told not to enter me into the Maori kindy.. I do know exactly where my blood lines come from tho... but because I can't speak or sing, I get called urban Maori by other Maori. which I take as disrespectful. my daughter is white with blonde hair and green eyes... and she will be bullied more than I did. it's not that we don't wanna know.. it's because there is no where for me to learn.(fathers a pedophile and I reported him so I definitely not allowed around his blood to learn anything.) dude wasn't pretending.. he was trying to express his culture from the knowledge he knows. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I follow him and he kept telling people that he’s not obligated to tell people his ethnicity. While mixed natives are very real and valid natives, the whole situation felt off. Like, VERY OFF. I get the question could be seen as offensive when put across a certain way (and people were VERY mean about it) but you’d think most indigenous people would be proud or happy to share their tribe name or culture. Idk man I hope he’s not a larp cuz he’s a really cool fashion content creator.

Native as a race, you don’t have to know your tribe to be native. Colonization prevents many of us, knowing our tribes and language. It’s a privilege to still know those things!

So what if he is but has no connections with the tribe he’s from but still wears native inspired fashion to connect himself the best way he can? I mean most black people dont know what tribes we come from in Africa but we incorporate a lot of inspo from the continent in whole. Just a thought.
