I think deep down she is mad that his dad was redeemable and changeable AFTER she left him. She put in a ton of energy into him just for him to change after she left. I’ll bet she thinks OP was the reason his dad changed in the end, which likely made her feel less than enough. Hence the misplaced resentment.
