he was wide open, that ball clearly was going to land out of bounds. Reciever could have had more awareness to out of bounds, but thats more on the QB.

I agree, however Hoover does this way too often. Give your guys better chances. They don’t even need this crazy play if he just makes the layups earlier in the game

I think you’re right, if a different defense was called that was a perfectly thrown ball. But how does Hoover not know it’s a layup when he is pressured. He has to know that puts that receiver in a 1 on 1 and he should give him some room to make the play. I think 80/20 receiver/qb ownership in this.

Its not whether or not he CAN catch the ball, its whether or not he even needed to make that catch. He assumed his QB threw it in ounds because he had half the end zone available. Marsh was past his defender who was still facing the qb, when Hoover released it. Just throw it in the midfle of the ez
