@emilyt_therapy: Replying to @WellActually I don’t believe patients should be footing the bill for overhead costs. I also think we can’t assume these programs are simply covering their expenses rather than making a pretty decent profit 😅 ————————————————————— #borderlinepersonalitydisorder #bpdrecovery #dbt #residentialtreatment #bpdtiktok
I mean these programs especially residential/inpatient are a huge waste of money at best and an insurance grab at worst. pretty much like most things mental health

I was so lucky to be able to go to residential. It saved my life. If someone can swing it, it’s so worth it!!!

That person’s logic is the same as saying a cancer patient should pay for overhead costs of their hospital bed, which they do. In the form of health insurance. The only difference is that this is mental healthcare and insurance doesn’t consider that as valid as physical healthcare.

My daughters cost 650/day. My school district funds. (No chef) 50% of the kiddos self pay. Parents cash in retirement, sell houses, take loans. Treatment time 12-18 months

there's also a sorta feedback loop. only rich people can afford it, so treatment centers compete on making the experiences nicer, which drives up cost, which means only richer people can afford it

Yes, and the billions of dollars cut to mental health are part of the issue.

People should donate to them, and they should be non profit?
