I had the reverse situation happen to me. Met a guy who ar first only wanted to be fwb, and I was fine with that, but he randomly started being more caring towards me and would gift me clothes and perfume and that kind of stuff. Then he'd lowkey neg/criticize things about me like mentioned I had B.O. so I'd wear more perfume, telling me the way I did X or Y was not nice, etc. Then one day, he vanished from my life with no warning. I found out through common friends that he had always been in love with a girl from college but she was engaged to someone else, got married and left the country. I looked her up, she looked so similar to me, but more femme. I started snooping around and yup, she wore that perfume, that style of clothes, she had that personality... this guy was trying to turn me into her. When she left was when he started being more attentive, and when he ghosted me it was because she got divorced and came back 🙄🙄🙄 good thing I didn't see it as anything more than a casual/temporary thing because if I had fallen for him the truth would have destroyed me
