Before y’all come for me… I’m literally holding the $9 coffee in question. ☕️ I GET IT. I’m guilty of it too! But can we talk about something? We want American-raised beef. 🇺🇸 We want to know where our food comes from. We want to support local farmers. We want family farms to stick around for generations. But we also want the farmer to be the cheapest option. And somewhere in there, I think we’ve forgotten what it actually costs to raise the food on our tables. Diesel, feed, equipment, land, processing, labor… none of it is FREE. Heck, when diesel is $6 a gallon, that cost directly affects the farmer. And listen, I KNOW groceries are expensive. I’m a mom feeding a family too. I understand that $8 for a pound of hamburger isn’t pocket change for everyone. But here’s my question… Have we gotten so used to paying for convenience and little luxuries that we’ve forgotten the value of the food that actually feeds our families? Because we’ll spend $9 on a coffee without thinking twice, but sometimes question $8 for a pound of locally raised ground beef. And yes, I’m saying all of this while sipping my overpriced coffee. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m not saying give up your coffee. You will most definitely catch me in the drive-thru if I’m on a parts run. 😆 I’m just saying, if we want family farms to be around for our kids and grandkids, we have to recognize that supporting them means allowing them to make a living too. ❤️ Food for thought… literally. 🥩 #familyfarming #farmfamily #costofliving #societystandards #foodforthought
