“you’ll regret saying that one day” she has yet to regret anything she’s said or done to me …… so….

Like it sucks that I genuinely feel this way and I hate myself for it, but the damage is done.

The weight that left my shoulders when she died was immense. I kept this feeling from most people in my life bc they wouldn't understand. You have to live this nightmare to get it. She was such a great person to most people in her life - they all mourned her. I just felt peace.

I think the only sadness I’ll feel is saying “damn, she really never changed”

It really was so freeing when she passed. She can never make me anxious again. No more “should I reach out, should I try, what if she needs help in old age”. No more anything. ❤️

The second death, as I call it. The first was when she stopped being my mom.

As someone who felt this but then went no contact 8 years ago- you don’t have to wait until she’s no longer alive to give yourself this peace that you deserve 🫶🏼

Thank you for being brave enough to say this. Nobody ever agrees with me and the shutdown is very hard to deal with. So thank you for sharing what a lot of us feel. I’ve learned something happened to a little girl that stopped her from growing up and being a good mom. And I can’t blame that little girl for what happened to her, but I can blame the adult woman who knew the impact of her actions, refused to stop, and blamed me. And once that is understood, it’s easy to let her go.
