My dogs recall is amazing inside, and as soon as we go outside he just pretends he doesn’t hear me 😅 Same treats, same commands, he just isn’t interested as soon as there’s something more exciting 🥲

Trying to train recall is what made me realize my dog was deaf. Like, she was actually deaf. Couldn't hear me *at all*. Turns out she was responding to my posture and unintentional hand gestures for every other trick.

when I have a puppy, I always play the chase me game outside (I will never chase a dog). every time puppy "catches" me I treat. then just start adding the command 😊 I start this from their very first day at home

This is great but training basic recall is easy. Doing it under distraction is a lot harder and where people can use some techniques.

My dog recalls really well inside and when I call her in from the back yard, but if she ever gets out the front she acts like it’s a neighborhood game of chase and I can’t get her back in until she wears herself out and gives up. What can I dooo ???
