It’s one of the most beautiful things about humanity. We can empathize with deeply flawed, harmful, dangerous people when they are experiencing recognizable, universal pure emotions, like love, fear, sadness. I think our ability to put aside context in those moments and just feel with her is a sign of a healthy, connected person. I love how I can watch that movie and not trust her, would have no interest in having her in my life, but connect with her heart in vulnerable moments all the same. And I don’t know if it even matters if she’s trying to manipulate. It’s a healthy instinct to trust expression of emotion.

I think it’s the humanity in us that we feel bad watching someone cry seeing a depiction of themselves in a movie, having to put the milk for their baby in the fridge because they are going to jail, etc. but then that’s also part of why they wanted to do the documentary! She also cried every time she wanted to stop doing something or having a conversation
