You basically bonsai your fruit trees! I have been bonsai enthusiast for 25 years training my ficus Benjamina this way, just using copper wires together with ropes so this technique is super effective, sometimes has to be repeated but it’s the easiest to achieve :)

if I could keep mine disease free I could work on that next. I'm having the worst luck in the last 2 years with my cherry trees and now they are infecting every other tree.
