@giaextramia: Basically, I have a job as a cafeteria worker at a school and I had gotten a new coworker in September that is from Ukraine. My coworker speaks no english and walks around with translator, along with the fact she has no prior experience in being a lunch lady. So far, I have tried my best to be understanding by downloading a translator on my phone too to help communicate with her, even acting as translation for meetings and explaining her what tasks she is expected to do everyday, unlike multiple of my other coworkers that believe if they simply talk loud and slowly enough, she will get it. (She doesn't, but always says okay anyways) Recently I have found myself struggling, and not just necessarily with her. Everytime there's a problem, my boss makes me translate to her about what she's supposed to do each day, which was something I had complained about to my boss to let her know I wasn't okay with it, but my boss only just made another coworker get the app and then went back to just calling on me and the other coworker, which is a bit annoying since I still have stuff I need to do everyday. I don't blame my Ukrainian coworker for her difficulties because moving to a whole new country is a big deal. My only issue is that when I tell her to do something, she tends to completely ignored it and will even interrupt my own tasks after I explain to her multiple times what she should be doing with the translator, instead she does her own things many times. I would like to repeat that I understand her difficult situation, but it feels like I'm putting in all the effort to help her but only getting more inconvenience in return because what she does affects everyone in the kitchen and she only says okay, making it hard to understand when she actually gets how something is done. I'm sure the way people work is different in Urkraine than how it is in America, but I still have my own work to do, just feel bad because if I just simply ignore my boss then my coworker will start preforming poorly in her own job which is a shame for how sweet my coworker is, so I only ask for advice on how to help her, myself, and others make this situation bareable? (Note: In one event, my Ukrainian coworker made another one of my coworkers cry.)
