Jac :
In Normal People, she was fantastic. I couldn’t imagine anyone else in that role. But everything else she has done, she’s forgettable because too many other actresses would’ve been a better choice.

why are you trying to put her in a box though I thought that was the point of like an actor being able to just step into any role and act

I felt that crawdads and twisters were let down by her casting unfortunately- Kaya fell completely flat, and her role in twisters had no gumption, I remember walking out thinking how good the film could have been with J Law leading it

She’s gen-z Anne Hathaway - multifunctional and reliable

I like her she’s just not charming enough to be a movie star and isn’t really a character actor to bring levity to a movie.

she's not a star until she leads in a mainstream Hollywood box office hit movie. right now she's an indie lead and mainstream supporting character actor.

She’s a great actress - better than some of the nepo babies out there getting a free ride.

She doesn’t have it in my opinion. I’m not sure what “it” is though? I’m captivated with performances by Jennifer Lawrence, Florence Pugh, Penelope Cruz, Rosamund Pike, Amanda Seyfried, and Zoey Deutch. But with Daisy I am never sure if her performance is enough to make a lackluster script good or a boring movie interesting. I just think she makes a lot of safe choices with how she plays her characters. Nothing particularly bold or moving. Maybe that’s it? A lovely lovely actress though.

She’s beautiful and really talented, but I think the problem is that she’s kind of typecast. All her characters just seem the same to me.

Most actors have fewer choices than we think they do.

i feel like actors take whatever jobs they can these days. actors don't even want screen personas. they don't like being put in a box

I love it when we don't see the actor in the film. We should see the character she is portraying, but her as herself.

Completely agree with this. Maybe it’s possibly because she is picking the wrong projects for her capabilities. As much as I think she is a good actor, the caricatures don’t suit her though.

Was also fantastic in Under The Banner of Heaven. I think her as a supporting character is really fantastic, but the leads.. not as much.

She doesn’t have the presence to be a STAR in a movie (compare her and Glenn Powell in Twisters) but she’s excellent in movies where she is a piece of the puzzle

I can’t even see point of this conversation when comes artistry. Not everything has big plan and strategy. I think Americans fail to separate business mindset and the grifting sometimes to arts In Europe that have way more freedom.

She has connections that I can’t figure out. She is ALWAYS on the red carpet and various parties and ceremonies without being in any films that are nominated or notable. The media keep her in the cycle constantly.
