Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been found guilty in the m*rder of Tupac Shakur, nearly 30 years after the rapper was k*lled in Las Vegas. On August 31, 2026, a jury convicted the 63-year-old former South Side Compton Crips gang leader of first-degree m*rder with a d*adly weapon. The verdict came after less than three hours of deliberation, marking the first conviction in the long-running investigation into Tupac’s d*ath. Tupac Shakur was sh*t on September 7, 1996, while travelling through Las Vegas with D*ath Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight. The sh*oting happened after a confrontation earlier that evening involving Tupac’s entourage and Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, Davis’ nephew. Prosecutors argued that the sh*oting was retaliation for that confrontation and that Davis helped organise the attack. Tupac d*ed from his injuries six days later, at just 25 years old. Importantly, Davis was not accused of being the person who fired the sh*ts. Prosecutors argued that he was involved in planning and facilitating the attack and that he provided the f*rearm used. Under Nevada law, someone can be held criminally responsible for a m*rder if they intentionally help or direct the k*lling, even if they are not the person who physically carries it out. The prosecution described Davis as a key figure who helped coordinate what happened that night. A major part of the prosecution’s case came from Davis’ own statements over the years. Investigators presented recordings and accounts from interviews, as well as material from his 2019 memoir and other public appearances. Prosecutors argued that these statements amounted to admissions about his involvement. Davis’ defence strongly disputed that interpretation, arguing that he had exaggerated stories about the sh*oting over the years for money, attention and personal protection. The defence also highlighted the lack of physical evidence directly connecting Davis to the crime scene. After a trial that featured testimony from more than 20 witnesses, the jury reached its guilty verdict on August 31. Davis now faces the possibility of life imprisonment, and his legal team has indicated that he plans to appeal. The gang-related enhancement that had been part of the original charge was dismissed, meaning the conviction ultimately centred on the m*rder charge itself. The conviction closes a major chapter in one of hip-hop’s most closely followed cases, but it does not answer every question surrounding Tupac’s d*ath. The person who actually fired the sh*ts was not identified or convicted in court, and the other people prosecutors linked to the vehicle have since d*ed. For nearly three decades, Tupac’s m*rder remained officially unresolved. Now, with Davis convicted of orchestrating the k*lling, the case has reached its most significant legal development — while some details of that night in Las Vegas remain unresolved. #truecrime #murder #tupac #truecrimetok #tupacshakur
